Case Studies - how we work and why we do what we do
We are all interconnected, and this is true in our work as much as in society in general. We often work in combination with other organisations to help our customers as best we can. This includes reaching out to and working with local authorities, as one of our customers notes: “When I became unable to access the community without support and feeling socially isolated, Haslemere Homecare secured funding from the local authority to enable me to be taken by the carer to the hairdressers, to get a manicure or go out for a coffee every week.”
The key is that this funding enabled our customer to not only maintain their independence but to continue to feel that they were a part of the local community, as they further note: “This had a big impact on my wellbeing and made me feel less isolated and a part of the Haslemere community I have been a part of for most of my life. I now have a better quality of life and will be forever grateful for the superior care I receive in every way.”
Being a part of one’s community is, of course, an essential part of well-being in general, and it illustrates how we at Haslemere Home Care always like to have an eye on the bigger picture for our customers. Facilitating as much independence as possible is a must, and minimising the social isolation that can come from disability or illness is a part of that.
Another customer of ours notes: “My wife had a poor prognosis of just a few weeks when she came home from hospital. I felt overwhelmed and out of my depth and made contact with Haslemere Homecare who immediately put double-up and night care in place and all the equipment we needed to care for my beloved wife at home, in familiar surroundings that was so important to us.” We instantly recognise urgent and stressful situations- our vast experience means this is second nature to us- and we have the ability to quickly put in place whatever contingency measures may be required, depending on the situation.
Our customer’s comment also raises the importance of enabling our customers to be supported within familiar surroundings, which is of course the whole point of our work.
They continue: “They also supported an application for NHS Continuing Health Care funding so we did not have the financial burden. They liaised with the continence team, McMillian, GP and community nursing team. The carers were kind, compassionate and made this journey full of love, laughter and support, not just for my wife but for me and our whole family. We could not have had a better experience through a very difficult time. Truly an amazing team!”
We are certainly immensely proud of our team of carers- it hasn’t gone unnoticed that all the feedback we receive mentions them in glowing terms!
